I want to take my septic gasses and compost gasses and turn them into renewable energy on my property to power up my home. How do I do that?

Are there residential systems designed to do this?

Geothermal Energy – Untapped Unlimited Renewable Energy From The Earth

With people looking for more and more ways to find renewable energy sources, many don’t realize they are standing on top of one of the greatest energy resources on the planet. The Earth’s core is at an unbearable temperature, hotter than anyone could possibly even fathom. This heat builds up so much pressure in the Earth’s core that it has to be released in some way. These releases are known as geothermal energy. The hot water and steam from the Earth can be used in a number of ways to create energy. This is a renewable energy because the heat in the Earth’s core is constant and the water replenishes from rainfall.

There are different ways to use geothermal energy that include direct and indirect uses.

- The heat from the Earth could be used as a direct source for heating systems. The hot water close to the Earth’s system is directly pumped into heating systems.

- Generators in power plants require steam at very high temperatures to work. Geothermal power plants are built near reservoirs to tap the natural resource. The power plants use steam or water close to the surface to operate its generator.

- Geothermal heat pumps use water near the Earth’s surface to control building temperatures. This renewable energy source can regulate entire towns and villages.

Using geothermal energy isn’t a new concept. History has shown that people in ancient times have used hot springs for cooking, bathing and heating purposes. Even today many believe that natural hot springs have healing powers. There are many people who still bathe in hot springs. In Reykjavik, Iceland 95 percent of the buildings are heated with geothermal district heating systems. Hot water near the Earth’s surface is pumped directly into the buildings.

The Unites States is one of the leaders in geothermal power. The country has more geothermal power plants than any other, however, it only accounts for one percent of the electricity produced in the U.S. California (33), Nevada (15), Hawaii (1) and Utah (1) are the only states with geothermal power plants.

There are opponents of geothermal energy. While there are uses for it, criticisms have been raised. Some believe this is not a long term solution nor could it be used in huge environments. There are others who think creating geothermal power plants would cost too much money and drain money from researching other valuable energy resources. People are also concerned that if magma is tapped, it could bring up dangerous and harmful particles.

One thing is certain, more research is needed to make an educated conclusion about geothermal energy. There is too much guessing going on and not enough doing. There are results of natural geothermal reactions. These happen everywhere and come in the form of volcanoes, hot springs and geysers. With geothermal reactions occurring naturally, humans should find a safe way to tap into it.

Our body needs energy to work and in the same way, a machine needs electricity or energy of any substance to run. For different machines and automobiles we use different means of energy such as; Coal, petroleum and natural gas. But these days the use of renewable energy is in vogue which is the energy produced out of the natural sources like sunlight, wind, tide and rain. The major types of renewable energy are: Solar energy, Wind energy, Bio mass energy.

The renewable energy is preferred more by the whole today because of its extra-ordinary advantages. We have been using the energy of the fossil fuels, produced by burning it which has kept the whole world on the edge of the devastation. Today, the world is towards the way of harnessing the natural sources for the energy to save the world from further global warming. The renewable energy does not emit any kind of toxic gases which can be fatal for the earth and another merit is it is the replenished energy. Among all the natural sources, the sun is the incessant mean, giving amazing output. The sun throws the heat and light directly on the earth almost daily (except few places) and the solar collectors collect the rays and transfer them into the form of electricity or heat which can be very helpful. Solar energy provides electricity to heat water and to heat or cool homes, businesses or industry. It is being preferable because it is a clean and renewable source of energy. The sunlight when converted into electricity is also called the solar power. If the use of renewable energy will be increased then the next generation will be able to live in the realm of pure environment.

Renewable Energy Gets Boost From Chancellor

Chancellor Alistair Darling’s Pre-Budget Report (PBR) has been seen as one of the most important packages of government proposals in over a decade. Included in that package were some very positive moves for renewable energy, which could equate to a big increase in ‘green-collar’ jobs – particularly renewable energy jobs, nuclear jobs and other careers in the UK’s energy industries.

The government gave a significant boost to the wind power industry by promising to extend the Renewables Obligation of financial support until 2037. The Renewables Obligation, which places a legal requirement on UK electricity suppliers to source any growing percentage of their power from green sources, was originally only in place until 2027. The Chancellor’s 10-year extension is intended to “ensure investors can plan with confidence for the future”. The British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) said that the move was “really encouraging” and would stimulate companies looking at plans to build expensive projects deep into the North Sea. These projects include tidal projects as well as offshore windfarms and other renewable energy sources. This extension of the Renewables Obligation gives these companies a reassurance that the government will be investing in renewable energy, which translates into a greater confidence and business growth, which in turn inevitably leads to more job opportunities.

With government targets for 10% of UK electricity supplies to come from renewable supplies only two years away, the renewable energy industry is pumping investment into new methods of meeting those targets, again all good news for those looking for careers in the UK’s energy market. Nuclear power will be part of that package, so nuclear jobs look set to increase as new stations come online as part of the UK’s long-term plans to meet its energy needs. Despite a real desire for environmental energy to be the key to Britain’s future energy needs, there is a shortfall in supply and demand. It is probable that this shortfall will be taken up by the nuclear industry, whether the public wants it or not. The alternative is a country that cannot meet its own energy demands, so a compromise has to be made.

But not only has the Renewables Obligation been given an additional 10 year lifespan – the Chancellor also announced that the government would be bringing capital spending forward to finance the environmental sector as a whole. Mr. Darling said that this could potentially create one million jobs in the low-carbon industry over the next 20 years, giving the UK a new growth industry that has a long-term future. This obviously means a big increase in the number of potential energy jobs available and a stable career platform for thousands of people. Philip Wolfe, director general of the Renewable Energy Association said that “energy projects are significant undertakings and companies require 15 to 20 years of a stable policy framework stretching ahead of them to give them the confidence to invest.” It is this investment confidence that not only would benefit the environment, but the jobs market as well.

Although the oil industry is in surprisingly fine fettle and currently meets most of our energy demands, renewable energy is the future of both supply and production not just in the UK but globally as well. The Environmental Industries Commission calls on the government to go further, saying that the development and implementation of a long-term growth strategy that includes a clear environmental policy framework, incentives, research funding and skills development is a matter of urgency if the UK is not to be left behind in the race to become a leading low-carbon economy. All of this again bodes well for those seeking careers in the energy industry and renewable energy jobs in particular.
