Renewable energy market size of Israel at par with Europe

By at September 26, 2010 | 6:34 am | 0 Comment

As a country that pioneered renewable energy concepts like flat solar collectors for home use, as well as parabolic trough technology and solar ponds, Israel has been active in the development and promotion of renewable energy in the country.

It comes as no surprise then that Israel is at par with Europe in terms of encouragement of renewable energy use according to some renewable energy market analyses.

According to Israeli venture capitalist and social media expert Sharon Weshler, the Israeli government had recently approved the Photovoltaic (PV) compensation plan.  Weshler says that in the last 30 years, Israeli law had required every house or building to have a PV water heating system.  The law –which installed a PV system on each roof in Israel- had made Israel the number one country in the world in terms of the ratio of the PV systems to its population.

Weshler is the founder of Global MarkeTeam Ventures Ltd., a company launched in 2005 that concentrates on investment banking for Israeli startup businesses in the fields of Internet, mobile, renewable energy and clean technology.

The venture capitalist has helped renewable energy research by connecting renewable energy companies to investors.  Some of these companies include an Israeli developer of renewable energy whose company is developing a bumper that produces clean energy by getting energy from cars that go over the bumper in parking lots and small streets.

Another company Weshler had helped concentrates on saving 30 percent in electricity bills through installing smart sensors in big buildings, which increases the efficiency of air conditioning systems.

The venture capitalist says Israel’s brightest minds are involved in making the green revolution –a reason why he decided to delve into renewable energy project financing.  Aside from water desalination -which he says is an Israeli invention, Weshler says that a ton of solar industry enhancements, clean technology ventures, and water treatment solutions had helped him make the shift towards renewable energy investment.

“I believe that within the next 10 years, Israel will establish its strong presence as one of the top global leaders in this field too same as it did in medical, homeland security, agriculture and telecommunications,” Welsher reveals in an exclusive interview with EcoSeed.org.  He adds that he wanted to be there when Israel establishes its renewable energy presence and that until then, he will help many Israeli clean technology and green energy technologies start with their businesses.

Other projects the Global MarkeTeam Ltd. had helped out with include a biodegradable polymer for the agriculture water conservation area, two PV-related ventures for allowing maximized use of the sun’s power, a rooftop wind energy venture that has a one-of-a-kind model that may be placed on any establishment, and one involving a revolutionary wave energy system.

Welsher stresses that other Israeli companies that have developed breakthrough technologies and are currently powering renewable energy in different parts of the world include Ormat, Luz, Solel, SolarGenics and Simbiotics.

Renewable Energy Like Solar Energy Can Prevent the World From Devastation????

By at August 10, 2010 | 7:48 am | 0 Comment

Our body needs energy to work and in the same way, a machine needs electricity or energy of any substance to run. For different machines and automobiles we use different means of energy such as; Coal, petroleum and natural gas. But these days the use of renewable energy is in vogue which is the energy produced out of the natural sources like sunlight, wind, tide and rain. The major types of renewable energy are: Solar energy, Wind energy, Bio mass energy.

The renewable energy is preferred more by the whole today because of its extra-ordinary advantages. We have been using the energy of the fossil fuels, produced by burning it which has kept the whole world on the edge of the devastation. Today, the world is towards the way of harnessing the natural sources for the energy to save the world from further global warming. The renewable energy does not emit any kind of toxic gases which can be fatal for the earth and another merit is it is the replenished energy. Among all the natural sources, the sun is the incessant mean, giving amazing output. The sun throws the heat and light directly on the earth almost daily (except few places) and the solar collectors collect the rays and transfer them into the form of electricity or heat which can be very helpful. Solar energy provides electricity to heat water and to heat or cool homes, businesses or industry. It is being preferable because it is a clean and renewable source of energy. The sunlight when converted into electricity is also called the solar power. If the use of renewable energy will be increased then the next generation will be able to live in the realm of pure environment.

Renewable Solar Energy

Solar energy is one form of energy that is abundant all over the world today. It is also a source of energy that is least harnessed in the world and has some of the best potential. Benefits of solar energy and its move of implementation is examined below.

The simplest transfer of energy we use today is solar energy. Solar energy can be used to warm our pools or to dry our clothes.

The sun is a very powerful star. It supplies us with energy by means of a process known as nuclear fusion. It also sustains the life on our planet. Solar energy otherwise known as the energy from the sun has existed since time immemorial and even the prehistoric men used the power of the sun in order to start fires.

The sun is a valuable and essential resource which radiates enough energy on the U. S in one day to meet the needs of the nation for as much as one and a half years. It is a source of energy that is free, clean and renewable and it is an energy source that will play a substantial role in our future.

The use of solar energy seems like the easiest solution to having an eternal energy source. However the harnessing of this energy is where the problem starts from. The rays of the sun shine over the entire world and not in a single spot. It may take only 8 minutes for the rays of the sun to reach the earth but trying to catch these rays over a wide area can be a very tricky thing to do. Energy available given place will vary according to a number of different factors which include cloud cover and weather conditions.

The use of solar energy in the United States started in the 1890′s when solar water heaters were used. Solar water heating makes use of a storage collector and a storage tank. Flat plate solar collectors are kept of roofs and pipes that carry water are then pumped through these collectors. These tubes are also painted black because this way they tend to get hotter quicker, a storage tank will then hold the hot liquid and this will help with central heating and cutting down on fuel costs. Solar heaters were popular when natural gas was rather expensive and burning wood and coals was a rather bothersome task. The popularity of solar heaters reduced when abundant natural gas and oil deposits were discovered. These fuels are now returning to replace the depleting fossil fuels that had taken their place.

Solar energy is either in the form of heat or light energy. The technology of the photovoltaic converts the energy of the sun into electric currents with the use of solar cells. Electric currents are then used immediately or stored for future use. PV cells also consist of pieces of silicon which are placed under a piece of glass. These pieces have both a positive and negative charge. Certain examples of this are the solar powered calculators that are used almost everywhere these days. Much more complicated examples would be the use of solar panels on rooftops. This usually consists of thin film solar cells used as rooftop shingles, roof tiles or even glazing for sky lights. These solar cells only generate one sixth of the solar energy into power. Bigger arrays are then needed which usually means more costs.

Solar thermal plants make use of the power of the sun in order to heat fluid. This in turn is transferred to steam that is quite similar to what occurs in plants that burn fossil fuel. The steam can then be transformed into mechanical energy in a turbine as well as electrical energy in a generator. The bad thing about solar plants is that they are unable to produce energy on days that are cloudy.
